Tell us about your personal wellness journey. What led you to where you are now?
“I have followed the breadcrumbs to my purpose for as long as I can remember. I learned early in life to ‘follow my gut’ and because of that, the choices I've made along the way have been more from my body than my head. I follow my soul’s calling instead of what my mind says, and I teach others to do the same so they can live their most aligned lives.
After traveling and living outside Michigan for most of my 20s, I found myself back in Michigan and experiencing a Dark Night of the Soul. Even though I was newly married and starting my career as a psychotherapist, I felt like something was missing. I was grieving not traveling as much and the Sisterhood and playfulness I had in Colorado and Hawaii. I found solace in taking an inner journey to explore the depths within me. This was when I did a deep dive into psychoanalysis, women's circle work, nutrition, and intuitive and spiritual practices. One thing led to another and the result has been soul awakening.
Looking back, I see that my 20s were dedicated to my physical body - learning massage therapy and yoga, living and hiking in Colorado, and traveling around the US and the world.
My 30s were dedicated to my inner world with the psychology piece and ‘settling down’ with getting married, starting a family, and finding an aligned community.
My 40s were dedicated to raising my children, learning about nutrition and deepening my understanding of what's hidden in the world so that I could protect my children and family from the onslaught of atrocities we’re faced with daily. During my 40s I began meditating daily with Transcendental Meditation, I honed my intuitive abilities and broadened my therapy practices to include past life regression and spiritual counseling.
As I am in my 50s now, I realize there have been many ‘little deaths’ along the way, and I’ve learned how to grieve all the things - big and small from actual death to leaving communities that I love because life is pointing me in a new direction. Through Sisterhood, I’ve learned to honor all of who I am and who the other is through holding space and deep connection with my sisters. I’ve deepened my relationship with my husband and am learning that no one can know me fully, just as no one can know anyone fully. We are each on our own journey through life and have an inner compass guiding us. Our work is to hone the skill of listening to and following that compass. As I dive deep into Human Design, I support my clients to uncover/discover this inner compass and learn who they are despite the conditioning they have been subject to. I work with my clients to help them decondition from who the world has told them they are.
Nothing is off limits in my client work - we explore and work through it all. Understanding who we are in relationship with ourselves and others is a big part of our work. Because of this, Mother wounding, father wounding, ancestral wounding, inner child work, and past life work are all tended to. These aspects of who we are as multidimensional beings are relevant to our overall health and well-being. I am here to be a guiding light and walk side by side with my clients as I learn as much from them as they do from me. Healing work can be joyful and fulfilling even if challenging and painful. I am here for all of it and love my deep and nourishing connections with clients.”
How did you come up with the idea for your business?
“I've been in the healing professions since I graduated from college. While studying mindfulness meditation, bodywork, and psychology on the island of Kauai, I envisioned working with people holistically - incorporating mind, body, and spirit practices to tend to the whole person. That was in the 1990s, and ever since then, I have been adding tools and modalities to my tool belt to serve those who can benefit from my work.”
How did you start your business?
“It's been a winding path. I was drawn to be of service as a bodyworker, psychotherapist, and now intuitive coach since my 20s. I moved entirely into private practice from clinic work after having children. When my family moved to Northern Michigan in 2020, I stepped more fully into my work as an Intuitive Coach and Guide Specializing in Past Life Therapy.
I broke away from the therapy world as I felt limited, yet I value my education and experience in that realm as it informs much of my current work with clients. I never agreed with diagnoses and labeling people. I see each person I work with as a unique multidimensional being affected by their upbringing, ancestral lineage, and past lives yet are not defined by any of those things. I intuitively guide them to bring the unconscious aspects of themselves forward as is necessary for their healing journey.”
Knowing what you know now, is there anything you would have done differently when you were first starting out?
“That's a great question and the first answer that came to me is no because that's how I've gotten where I am now. Yet, if I were to do anything differently, I would take the pressure off myself to ‘figure it out,’ to trust divine timing and my intuition, follow the inner guidance, wait to respond to what lights me up, and then do that. To embody the feeling that there's nowhere to go and no hurry to get there. It's all about the ride and who you become along the way!”
What is the best business advice you've ever been given?
“I was asked, ‘How does it feel in your body?’ about any question I have in my business, from pricing to services to starting something new.”
How do you persevere in challenging times?
“I breathe, meditate, take walks in nature, and cut back obligations in my schedule as much as possible so I can have space for myself and for my inner knowing to have space. I consult with my husband and call upon my Sister friends, who are always ready to hold and support me during a tough time. I almost always have a coach and/or therapist that I can process with and who holds space for me.”
What impact do you want your business to have?
“I want the people I work with to tune into their most authentic selves so they can live deeply fulfilling and nourishing lives, supporting and radiating their light to everyone in their lives. It's a ripple effect!”
What knowledge would you share with someone who wants to become an entrepreneur of a wellness business?
“Get out of your head. We can make ourselves crazy trying to "figure out" the best way to make a business work. What does your body say? Your business is your medicine and it will heal you if you let it. Notice what's happening inside you physically, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually. It all matters, and wherever there is dis-ease in any of these areas, it warrants your loving and compassionate attention.”
What do you do for personal and professional development?
“Currently, I am working with a dharma coach - Saraswati J Miller who specializes in coaching spiritual entrepreneurs and uses Vedic astrology to help guide them - she's amazing!
I'm also in a Human Design Mastermind program with Emma Dunwoody and I love her podcast.
The Cosmic Matrix is another favorite podcast and I took Bernhard and Laura Gunther's program Embodied Soul Awakening last year. Love them both!”
What mantra or quote do you live by?
“You are your own guru. Live and let live.”
What is your favorite wellness activity or hobby?
“Taking walks in the woods and on the beach with my mini Bernedoodle, Tazo.”
What are a few of your favorite wellness products, and why?
“I've been using doTERRA products for over 10 years and also sell them. I use essential oils for everything - to focus on my work, to uplift my mood, to relax, to improve digestion, to keep my kids healthy, for meditation. You name it, there's an oil for that ;)
I'm also big into EMF protection we do our best to mitigate electromagnetic frequencies in my house with all sorts of products from companies like earthcalm.com, emf-harmony.com and defendershield.com. Also Shungite is a crystal that is used for EMF protection. We also turn our WiFi off at night.”
What are some of your favorite wellness-related businesses to support?
“doTERRA and those listed above. Basically, everything in our house is organic or as much as it can be including mattresses, towels, sheets, clothes and food.
Lately, I've been switching over a lot of my clothing to wool with items from Woolx and Wooly. I also love linen clothing.”
