Awareness and Compassion - The Basis of Buddhist Meditation
Basics of Buddhist Meditation. Come explore a variety of simple, beginner-friendly meditation practices stemming directly from the teachings of the historical Buddha. While much contemporary Western yoga practice is heavily concerned with asana, traditional Buddhism is much more concerned with direct cultivation of skillful qualities in the heart and mind. Whether you are curious about what a more consistent meditation practice has to offer, want to learn new methods and deepen your practice, or simply want to steep in the profound feeling of stilling the mind next to dozens of other yogis, this workshop is for you. We will explore sitting as well as walking meditation, and so bringing a blanket or cusion in addition to your mat is advised although not necessary.
